About Legal Advocates

What is a legal advocate?

A legal advocate is an individual who is legally qualified to have the right of audience in certain types of court hearings.

How can a legal advocate help me?
They will attend the hearing with or without you present and will present your claim to the court in the appropriate and correct way. They will do this without the personal and emotional connection you are likely to have

How do they know my claim details?
We gather full details and documentation for the claim which is then sent to our partner solicitor who will prepare the hearing instructions for the advocate. Once the instructions and the documentation is packaged they are forwarded to the advocate to read and familiarise themselves with. Evictions hearings are very common so your advocate will be well and truly versed on the requirements and the process. Hearings are usually over very quickly.

How much do we charge?

£150+Vat

This fee covers the cost of preparation and attendance for the 1st hearing. If your case then becomes defended with additional hearings required we can refer you to a firm of solicitors who will be able to provide you with the advice you require at reasonable fees.

What if I want to attend myself alone?

If you feel confident enough to do this then great and costs you nothing. There are many resources online which can assist you to prepare for the hearing. But make sure you take EVERYTHING you need and be prepared. These types of hearings are only listed for short periods of time and if you do not have the information to hand when asked then it may be listed for another hearing to give more time to provide the information needed. This then results in more delays and if rent arrears are already building up then it may cost you more than paying for the Legal Advocate to attend in the first place.
